If a guest remembers only one single feeling or moment from their stay here years down the road, what is the exact feeling you hope they carry away with them?

“I would want them to remember how effortlessly they felt at home. Luxury is not always about what you add to a stay, but about what you remove from it: inconvenience, uncertainty and unnecessary effort. If a guest leaves feeling genuinely cared for, that is the experience worth remembering.”

How do you train your team to anticipate what a guest needs before they even ask for it?

“We train our people to read the guest, not just the request. Anticipation comes from observation, curiosity and understanding context. A good associate does not wait for the guest to ask the second question; they are already thinking about what the next need might be.”

How do you inspire every staff member from housekeeping to dining to genuinely care about delivering five-star service?

“You cannot train genuine care through a checklist. You have to create ownership. Every associate needs to understand that their role, however visible or behind the scenes, directly shapes the guest’s perception of the hotel. When people take pride in what they do, service stops being a task and becomes a culture.”

How do you keep and mentor top hospitality talent so they want to stay and grow at this property?

“Talent stays where it sees a future. Our responsibility as leaders is to give people meaningful responsibility, honest feedback and opportunities that stretch them. I want our associates to look at the next position and see a possibility for themselves, not simply a vacancy to be filled.”

What big changes have you noticed in what luxury travelers in this region want lately, and how is the hotel adapting?

“The definition of luxury is becoming far more personal. Guests are increasingly valuing time, relevance and experiences over conventional displays of luxury. They want things to feel effortless, personalised and authentic. Our role is to understand that shift without losing the consistency and reliability that a global brand like Marriott represents.”

What makes Courtyard by Marriott Raipur stand out from other luxury hotels in the area?

“For me, it comes down to the combination of global standards and local understanding. We have the strength and consistency of Marriott behind us, but our people understand Raipur, its guests and its evolving expectations. That balance allows us to deliver an experience that is internationally benchmarked, yet locally relevant.”

What is the most exciting goal or project the hotel is working on for the future?

“Our ambition is bigger than simply growing the hotel’s business. We want Courtyard by Marriott Raipur to become an even stronger part of the city’s lifestyle and hospitality landscape. That means continuously evolving our dining, celebrations, business offerings and guest experiences, while building stronger relationships within the Raipur community.”

How have you managed to consistently maintain such high luxury standards here over such a long period of time?

“Consistency is harder than excellence because excellence can happen once; consistency has to happen every day. We protect our standards through discipline, training, regular feedback and strong ownership at every level. Most importantly, we never allow familiarity to become complacency.”

What is the biggest operational challenge you face daily in keeping this level of luxury running smoothly, and how do you overcome it?

“The greatest challenge is making complexity look simple. A seamless guest experience involves hundreds of decisions happening across multiple departments, often simultaneously. Our job as leaders is to ensure that the guest sees none of that complexity. Clear communication, empowered teams and quick decision-making are what make that possible.”

How do you make sure that every single department stays on the same page when delivering a seamless guest experience?

“We constantly remind ourselves that the guest does not experience departments, they experience the hotel. That mindset changes the way teams communicate and collaborate. Our briefings, cross-functional coordination and leadership reviews ensure that everyone is working towards the same outcome rather than simply completing their individual responsibilities.”

What advice would you give to someone joining this leadership team on how to protect and elevate the Marriott brand in this market?

“Respect the brand, understand the market and never stop questioning how we can do better. Marriott gives us an extraordinary global foundation, but a brand becomes meaningful only when it is brought to life locally. Protecting the brand is about consistency; elevating it is about having the courage to evolve.”
